BRCGS-Certified Flexible Packaging in Sri Lanka
Varna is certified to BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7 at Grade A and FSSC 22000 v6, and has held both through every repeat audit. For a food or consumer brand, that is the difference between a supplier you have to qualify and one that already clears the bar.
BRCGS Packaging Materials, Issue 7 (Grade A)
BRCGS Packaging Materials is one of the packaging food-safety standards most widely recognised by global retailers and brand owners. Certification covers hazard analysis, product safety and quality management, traceability, and site standards, audited against a published standard rather than self-declared. Varna holds the current issue at Grade A and is re-audited on the standard’s cycle. The certification is listed in the BRCGS Directory, where a free BRCGS account lets a buyer confirm its status.
FSSC 22000, version 6
FSSC 22000 is a food-safety system certification recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). It combines the ISO 22000 management-system framework with packaging sector prerequisites, so the safety of the pack is managed as a system, not checked at the end. Varna is certified to version 6, the current version of the scheme, and the certificate is listed on the official FSSC public register for direct verification.
What this means when you are sourcing
Most of the local converting base cannot clear multinational supplier qualification. Holding both BRCGS and FSSC 22000 means Varna is audit-ready for retail and MNC procurement, and that the same controls apply to every order, at volume.
- Audit-ready for global procurement. The certifications buyers ask for are already in place and maintained, not promised.
- Food-safe by default. Food-grade inks and adhesives are standard, and residual solvent is kept in check so food-contact packs stay safe and free of taint.
- Checked against the spec you signed off. An in-house laboratory tests every order, backed by in-line defect detection on every production line, which is how the external acceptance rate holds at 98.8 per cent at customer goods-inward.
Verify or request the certificates
Varna’s FSSC 22000 certificate can be verified directly on the FSSC public register, and the BRCGS certificate is listed in the BRCGS Directory (a free BRCGS account is needed to view the details). Full current certificates, with scope and validity, are also available on request. Ask our team and we will send the current copies for your supplier file.
